Writing tip # 17 – Write!

TypewriterTo do anything well, you need to practice. Want to be a professional bobsledder? Practice. Awesome harpsichord player? Practice. Foosball master? Practice. Writer?

Practice.

It seems ridiculously simple but yet I can’t tell you how many “writers” I know that don’t seem to get this concept and never really write anything. Ever. So do yourself a favor and pick up a pen or sit yourself down in front of a computer.

And write. Every day.

Trust me when I say this is probably the single most important tip I’ll ever share with you. I’ve become so much more comfortable with the written word since dedicating myself to writing every night about a year ago. You’ll be amazed with the results if you just set aside a chunk of time every day to the craft. Write a blog. Write a story. Write to a friend. Write anything. Just write.

Make time.
